On January 29, 2018 in Bishkek, a training was held to prevent marriages with minors for authorized state bodies and public organizations. The event was attended by representatives of the the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, MoES, experts, as well as civil activists from 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan, who will subsequently train representatives of authorized state bodies in the field
On November 17, 2016, the Kyrgyz Republic adopted Law of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 177 "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (the Family Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic), which prohibits the performance of religious marriage rites with minors.
In August 2017, the PF Child’s Rights Defenders League within the framework of the UNDP project "Promoting the implementation of laws to promote democracy and stability in Kyrgyzstan", began implementing the component "Supporting the implementation of the Law on the prohibition of religious marriage rites with minors."
In the framework of this work, the Public Foundation Child’s Rights Defenders League assisted the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as other authorized state bodies, in the development of departmental regulations aimed at the effective implementation of the Law. In addition, in order to increase the capacity of responsible executors, the Foundation developed a Handbook for conducting training of authorized state bodies and public organizations in order to prevent marriages with minors.
